GETTING MARRIED AT KALMOESFONTEIN, SWARTLAND
On a rainy Saturday, Lindsay and Nic's wedding at the beautiful Kalmoesfontein turned out to be nothing short of magical. They put a lot of effort into the details and chose a team who valued this.
The venue was decorated with vibrant blooms arranged meticulously by Besonder Studios, adding a playful touch to the farm setting. Lindsay looked stunning in her custom wedding gown by Alana van Heerden Bridal, which had embroidered daisies on the back of her dress and her custom veil. Sarah Hoberman Beauty completed her bridal look with natural make-up and softly curled hair, reflecting Lindsay's soft, caring personality.
Their ceremony, officiated by their friend Kyle, included eco-friendly confetti made of dried bougainvillea petals and bubbles, adding a playful touch. During the canapés, guests enjoyed sweet melodies from Akimbo Band and delicious food and wine provided by A.A. Badenhorst.
The speeches during the reception had everyone laughing, and Nic surprised Lindsay with a song he wrote and sang while playing his guitar. This wedding and venue were truly special to document. The love and happiness felt throughout the day were undeniable, reminding me once again why I love capturing the moments of laid-back, in love couples.
As a photographer, I specialize in heartfelt and sincere wedding photography for modern romantics with an adventurous edge. My imagery is inspired by love, beautiful light, and the magnificent landscapes of South Africa. Here are some of my favourite moments of this special celebration;

Farm attractions include cellar tours and tastings (booked in advance); hiking; biking trails (own bikes); farm dams to swim & fish (catch & release); pony rides (booked in advance) and play areas with zip-line, swings, and cricket net for kids. There are animals everywhere and vegetable and herb gardens and fruit trees which you are welcome to harvest sustainably from. Being located in a rural area, is there in-house catering and co-ordination services available on the farm? Our team of locals can and will go to great creative and logistical lengths to make sure your event and/or stay exceeds your expectations. We cook, we decorate, we forage, we do flowers and lights.
We bake, we braai, we serve, we pour drinks, we check every detail and we do it all with Swartland style and hospitality.
Why chose Kalmoesfontein for your wedding? Kalmoesfontein Farm is the home of AA Badenhorst Family Wines, a working wine farm in the Swartland region of South Africa. Situated just 60 minutes from Cape Town, it is the perfect place to get away from it all.
Set against the slopes of the Paardeberg mountain, you are surrounded by nature. Kalmoesfontein is a versatile venue that can comfortably host both big and small weddings - we've celebrated with circles as tight as 19 but our back stoep seats 120 and by adding a stretch tent we can accommodate up to 200 guests.
Besides providing ample space for an outdoor ceremony and covered reception area, what else can potential couples expect on the farm? With separate cottages for both parties to get ready; a range of options for ceremony settings; a few terraces with stunning scenic backdrops for drinks and photos and our changeable reception area - anything is possible. In terms of accommodation, our cottages can sleep the family or bridal parties while our Silo is a perfect Honeymoon Suite.
Guests can be brought to the farm (and returned safely to their accommodation) with shuttles or a glamping camp site can be set up outside the cellar.
Marli is pure gold. We would recommend her to anyone and everyone. We didn’t want our wedding day to be dictated by formal photos and wanted the focus to be on enjoying the time with our friends and family. We asked her to capture more of those moments and she did it perfectly. She also had an uncanny ability to guide us gently when we were going off course, and really made the day far more relaxed. She is incredibly kind, really good fun and takes the most beautiful photos.
Marli, thank you so much for being part of our special day – wouldn’t have been the same without you!
