BACKGROUND

I was fortunate enough to document the beautiful union of Colin and Martell a few years ago. Soon after their wedding, they moved to Canada and have been building a life and family abroad. After spending a few years living overseas, the Taylor family finally had the opportunity to visit their parents in Hermanus for a special three-month Christmas holiday. For such a memorable occasion, we decided to capture the moments during a lovely breakfast by the beach, sipping coffee and enjoying some traditional rusks.

During this family gathering, I wanted to portray the love and connection between the Taylor and Smit families in a way that would evoke emotions and tell their story. The beautiful natural light of the morning beach added a touch of magic to the photographs, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

Documenting this special breakfast was not just about taking pretty pictures. It was about freezing a moment in time, capturing the love and bond between family members who hadn't seen each other in a while. These images will serve as a lasting memory of this cherished reunion, reminding the Taylors of the love and happiness shared during that morning by the beach.
