Female Documentary Wedding Photographer based in Cape Town

Honest wedding photography, with an artful eye
_

Your wedding deserves to be remembered as it felt, not constructed for the camera. I photograph with quiet restraint and deep attention, holding space for the real moments and shaping them into a cohesive story you can return to.

With over 15 years of experience, I work calmly and unobtrusively, stepping in with gentle guidance when it helps and stepping back when it doesn’t. My focus is always the same: atmosphere, relationships, and the in-between.

Hello, I’m Marli (Mar’lee / Marley)

I’m a documentary wedding photographer with an eye trained for texture, tone, and truth. Some of my earliest memories live in 35mm film frames and grainy VHS tapes; imperfect, tender, and completely irreplaceable. They shaped how I see, and what I value.

The most powerful moments are often the quietest ones.

Although I studied Architecture, storytelling through a lens pulled me in early and weddings became the place where everything I love meets: people, emotion, design, and light.

Today, I photograph celebrations across South Africa. I am drawn to the honest rhythm of a day; the hand squeezes, the soft glances, the breathing spaces you feel more than you see.

If you’re planning a wedding grounded in connection with the people you love closest, I’d love to hear what you’re creating.
